Description

We have a very special Invention Friday session lined up for you… learn how to build your own ecosystem in a bottle. A bio-dome! 

First, we will discover how living things (plants and animals) and organisms (some so tiny you can’t see) interact with non-living things such as soil, water, and sunlight. Next, we will learn about ecosystems to understand how together, all of these things interact with one another to create a life system. Afterward, we’ll explore the rainforest to look around and see how everything in this environment is connected in some way. And if that is not exciting enough, you will be given the materials to make your very own ecosystem to take home. You can then keep a log and record every day what happens inside your miniature bottled world. 

Predict, Explore, Investigate and Think like an Ecologist for a day to: identify living and non-living things; the plants and animals that live and interact in a rainforest; learn what an ecosystem is, and make your very own biosphere to take home.

Are you a beginner robotic enthusiast? Just itching to start your robotic learning journey? Then… drum roll please… this is exactly for YOU! A whole lot of fun introducing you to coding and robots in a fun-filled session packed with Robotic fun!

You will learn to program these cute little bots and take them through their paces by putting your own skills to work. Oh, but it is not just any course that we have planned out for you. You must overcome obscene obstacles and crafty challenges and maddening mazes that we have created – just like incorporating a Rube Goldberg Machine but on a whole other level…. Hmmm, interested to take up the Race? Why not ask your bestie to join you to be the ultimate winning machine!

Predict, Explore, Investigate and Think like a Computer Scientist to: discover a beginner’s world of robots and learn how to program and apply your skills to race! Who will take out the Checkered Flag? Who will have the fastest lap time?

If you are a sea lover then you will be delighted with our Aqua Adventurers workshop? 

Come join us for a tour of the Marine Discovery Centre where you will see large displays of fish and marine invertebrates and learn about where and how they live. 

Predict, Explore, Investigate and Think like a Marine Biologist to: observe and discuss adaptations that allow marine animals to flourish in different ecosystems and learn what possible threats humans pose to these ecosystems. You will have fun hands on time with some of the Marine Discovery Centre’s animals and finish off the session by partaking in a real-life dissection to see how they are perfectly adapted to their watery ecosphere!

The focus of this zany fun packed workshop is to combine your electrical engineering skills with your creative arts talents. And then show off your unique electrical engineering LED designs by wearing them for all to see – or a gift for someone special.

Predict, Explore, Investigate and Think like an Electrical Engineer to: master the skills of understanding electrical circuits, LEDs and batteries to develop your very own unique wearable device. Once you understand the basics, it will be endless what you can create!!
